Each East Tennessee State University (ETSU) program asks for a different set of practicums, from five courses in the MSN FNP to four project residencies in the DNP. Which ETSU nursing programs need a preceptor?
Every graduate program with practicum courses: the MSN FNP, PMHNP, Nursing Administration and Nursing Education, the ETSU DNP and the joint DNP, and the post-graduate APRN certificates. RN to BSN students do one practicum, often at their own workplace. BSN clinicals are assigned by the College.
Does ETSU offer an MSN in acute care, pediatrics or women's health?
Not as an MSN. Adult-gerontology acute care, pediatric primary care and women's health care NP concentrations are part of the ETSU-TTU joint DNP.
Are ETSU's hour totals in the catalog?
The 2026-27 catalog is the official record, and the College of Nursing's plans of study list clock hours course by course. Where they differ, as they do for the DNP, go by your catalog year and ask your advisor.
