In short, ETSU's standards decide your preceptor, through the faculty sign-off and credential check described on the approval page. The faculty licensing point is for the College to arrange, which is one more reason to raise a Nebraska site early with the graduate clinical coordinator.
Full practice, and a board that may have merged
Nebraska NPs reach full practice, in AANP's terms, after 2,000 hours with a supervising provider. One detail is in flux: until mid-2026, DHHS listed an APRN board of its own, but rosters from July and September 2026 show APRN, CNS and CNM seats on the Board of Nursing, with terms starting July 1, 2026. The two boards appear to have been combined, though no statute text confirming it was found, so check an APRN preceptor's license against DHHS's current pages.
Nebraska has taken part in the Nurse Licensure Compact from January 2018, which means a multistate RN license is honored at Nebraska sites. The APRN Compact has not passed there.
Omaha, Lincoln and Grand Island
Omaha's metro tops a million people and reaches into Iowa, with close to 890,000 of them on the Nebraska side; Lincoln is the second metro and Grand Island a distant third. Bryan Health and Nebraska Methodist Health System are two systems to research, as are CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine. For the pediatric practicum, NRSE 5024, Children's Nebraska is an obvious name to research. Each sets its own terms for students.

Does Nebraska's Board of Nursing approve ETSU's online MSN or DNP?
No approval is involved. Nebraska's board limits its program approvals to pre-licensure education, and RN to BSN and graduate programs, online or not, fall outside its regulation. ETSU's review of out-of-state placements, its approvals and a site contract still come first.
Who sets the bar for a Nebraska preceptor?
Nebraska hands that job to the school when the program is post-licensure. ETSU's clinical faculty read the Preceptor Intent Form and decide, and the College then verifies credentials. With no published minimums on experience, the graduate clinical coordinator is the person to ask about your course.
Can a Nebraska LPN use ETSU's LPN to BSN?
Its clinicals stay in Tennessee. ETSU's LPN to BSN rules out out-of-state placements and runs clinicals in Northeast, East and Middle Tennessee, sometimes with long drives or overnight stays. The graduate programs are the ETSU options reviewed for out-of-state clinicals.
Is Nebraska still a compact state for RNs?
Yes. Nebraska joined the Nurse Licensure Compact in January 2018, so a multistate RN license covers ETSU clinicals at a Nebraska site. ETSU expects all your licenses to stay clear of any encumbrance, and its Associate Dean of Graduate Programs hears of any change immediately.
