East Tennessee State University (ETSU) publishes its most itemized health list for rotations in the College of Nursing's nurse-led clinics: five vaccines, a TB test every year, CPR, and several ETSU-run trainings. The Office of Practice says the list largely mirrors what nursing students provided when they were admitted, so most of it should already be in your ProjectConcert file.

The Office of Practice wrote its list for students accepted into the College's clinics, yet it is the clearest statement of health requirements on ETSU's live pages, because the older BSN and clinical requirement PDFs now return "page not found." Use it as your baseline and confirm your own program's list in ProjectConcert.

The Preceptor Intent Form names immunizations as one of the clinical requirements to clear before clinicals start, so a missing dose holds your start even when the preceptor, the credential check and the contract are all done.

Titers or doses: choosing your proof

For MMR, hepatitis B and varicella, the list takes either the full dose series or a positive titer. If your childhood or earlier work records are incomplete, a titer can be the quicker route, since one blood draw can show immunity without a records search across old providers.

Upload proof that leaves no doubt: dated dose records with your name on them, or a lab report that shows the titer result. A negative or equivocal titer with no dose record does not meet the item as ETSU writes it. Talk with your own health care provider about next steps, and tell the College early if the timing could touch a practicum start.

The Tdap or Td line is date-based: the booster must fall within the last 10 years. Check that date against your whole program, not just the current term. A BSN-to-DNP plan runs nine semesters full time and fifteen part time, so a booster that is eight years old at admission will need attention before you finish.

Yearly items: flu and TB

Two items renew every year on ETSU's list: the flu vaccine and a negative TB skin test. When the skin test comes back positive, a chest X-ray takes its place on the list.

Yearly items are where compliance files lapse without anyone noticing. ETSU runs fall, spring and a full summer semester, and many graduate plans put practicums in summer; the full-time MSN FNP plan, for example, places two 120-hour practicums there. A TB test done in May covers that summer and the following fall, but it needs renewing before the next May.

Set a reminder a month ahead of each due date in ProjectConcert, and book the TB test early enough to allow for the return visit a skin test needs before you have a result to upload. Our summer clinical semester page shows which practicums fall in summer.

CPR, universal precautions and the ETSU trainings

CPR appears on every ETSU list that itemizes anything. The DNP catalog asks for current CPR certification and familiarity with universal precautions ahead of clinical courses, and the clinic list asks for proof of CPR. ETSU's pages name no course provider or card type, so confirm which card the College accepts by asking the Office of Student Services ahead of booking a class.

How the list maps to ProjectConcert

Your health requirements appear on the Clinical Requirements tab in ProjectConcert, reached through Information and then Information Edit, each with its own Status and Due Date. Load every record against the requirement it proves, a titer report against the titer item and a CPR card against CPR. For a College clinic rotation, the Office of Practice reviews your ProjectConcert file after you are accepted and reports anything missing. Rotation requests there open on fixed dates (spring on October 1, summer on March 1, fall on May 1), with details on our Office of Practice clinics page.

Outside sites may add steps of their own. Health systems run their own student onboarding, and a hospital or clinic can ask for a record in its own format, so compare each site's list with yours before you commit to it.

Questions ETSU students ask

Does ETSU accept a titer instead of vaccine records?

For MMR, hepatitis B and varicella, yes. ETSU's clinic list accepts either the full dose series (two doses of MMR, three of hepatitis B, two of varicella) or a positive titer. The flu vaccine, the Tdap or Td booster and the yearly TB test have no titer option on the list.

How often do ETSU nursing students need a TB test?

Every year, according to the Office of Practice's list. It asks for a negative TB skin test annually, with a chest X-ray accepted after a positive skin test. Your ProjectConcert Clinical Requirements tab shows the exact due date for your file, so book the test early enough to upload the result before it lapses.

Do I need a flu shot every year for ETSU clinicals?

Yes. The clinic list asks for a flu vaccine every year. Because many ETSU graduate plans run clinicals through summer, keep the date current across the whole calendar, not only in fall and spring, and upload the record to ProjectConcert as soon as you get the shot.

Which CPR course does ETSU accept?

ETSU's pages ask for current CPR certification (the DNP catalog) and proof of CPR (the clinic list) but name no course provider or card type. Check with the Office of Student Services first, and keep your card's expiry date ahead of every practicum you have left in your plan of study.

Are the ETSU HIPAA and safety trainings required for every clinical?

ETSU lists them for rotations in the College's nurse-led clinics: HIPAA Part One and Part Two, bloodborne pathogens, portable fire extinguisher, hazard communication and emergency preparedness. Other sites may ask for their own versions. Keep the completion records with your ProjectConcert file so they are ready either way.
